Loved ones are mourning a park ranger whose body was found days after he fell in the water at Tyler State Park in Bucks County.
Alec Campbell -- a 38-year-old park resource ranger with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) -- was kayaking in Neshaminy Creek in Newtown, Pennsylvania, on Friday, May 23, when the boat capsized, investigators said. He then went missing after falling into the water.

Pennsylvania state police and other agencies searched for Campbell through the weekend before recovering his body on Sunday.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of Alec Campbell, a dedicated member of our Pennsylvania state park staff,” DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn said. "Every day, state park employees play a vital role in welcoming visitors, protecting our natural spaces, and ensuring the safety of all who enjoy Pennsylvania’s beautiful parks. Alec’s commitment and passion touched many lives, and his loss is felt deeply across our entire community."

The Bucks County Coroner is working to determine the exact cause and manner of Campbell's death.
On Monday, May 26, his family released a statement.
"Alec was and is beloved and we are humbled by and grateful for the outpouring of love and support," the family wrote. "At this time our family requests privacy to grieve."

Tyler State Park was closed during the search for Campbell and remained close on Memorial Day. It is expected to be reopened on Tuesday, May 27.
