A woman was charged with murdering her 3-year-old daughter and then falsely claiming the girl had been abducted at gunpoint, officials said. Maryland State Police spokesperson Elena Russo also revealed a body was found in a vacant lot as police searched for the girl.

Maryland State Police found a body in Cecil County while searching for 3-year-old Nola Dinkins, officials announced late Wednesday afternoon. Earlier in the day, investigators determined Dinkins’ mother had lied to police when she claimed someone abducted her daughter at gunpoint, which prompted an Amber Alert that was later cancelled.
